We had unusual weather in January. Unusual, that is, for golf weather. Three
weeks in a row, the KLGA play day was canceled due to bad weather. I was always a self-proclaimed “weatherproof
golfer.” I would play golf in 30-degree
cold weather or even play through 50 miles an hour wind. WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO ME? I forget, that was a
few years ago or was it a jillion years ago.
Anyhow there was no KLGA organized golf for the first three Wednesday
in January of 2013.
So, what is there for a golf granny to do on unplayable
days? Well, I stayed at home and did
many home making projects like home made laundry soap and cooking like I was
going to feed the Army. Now I have
enough laundry soap for next four years and my freezer is full of homemade
frozen food so I don’t have to cook for a while. I also knitted a couple of hats for my granddaughters. These projects left me with sore hands and shoulder
discomfort so I don’t recommend it to any golfers.
What a rough start! It occurred to me that when I asked
Irene to be the play day chair, she said “yes” very quickly. But I have been wondering
if it had anything to do with this “unplayable” golf weather? She is getting away too easy…
Finally, decent golf weather arrived on 23rd
January!!!
Nineteen players responded to play but one backed out at the
last minute. The temperature was comfortable to be outdoors but the fog was so
thick the visibility was not so good. But
I could tell the ladies’ desire to play golf was even thicker than the
fog. I was in good spirits and ready to
have some good old fun and bonding time with my good friends.
So, here I am!!! No
little, I mean thick, fog; will be in my way of golf. MOVE OVER FOG!
Three weeks of no organized golf is way too long for this
golf granny. Although I have played golf
with some friends whenever I can catch good weather, playing organized golf
with this group of ladies is something different.
The name of the game for the first play day of 2013 January
was “N.O.S.E”
This means only count the strokes on the holes starts with
aforementioned letters such as Nine, One, Six, Seven, Eight, Eleven, Seventeen
and Eighteen witch totals nine holes.
As for the weather, after the fog was lifted, it turned out
perfect for the rest of day.
By the way, Irene only got to do her play day chair duty twice. I am not sure if this was luck or if she played some kind of magic on weather. Either way, I think Irene deserves a mulligan.
사랑해요 :-)
Looking good ladies!
