CTLG @Delaware Springs August 2015

Brave flat stick warriors

What other kind of outdoor activity will attract “delicate ladies” to brave the near 100-degree heat just for fun?

As a matter-of-fact, most people would like to avoid anything outdoors in this heat. They would prefer to stay indoors where the A/C is running non-stop, sipping iced cold drinks which could arguably be an ideal way to spend the day when heat index is near boiling.

On August 6^th, 74 flat-stick warriors from the Central Texas area got together at the Delaware Springs Golf Club for the CTLG monthly golf tournament hosted by the Delaware Springs Ladies Golf Association.

It was a typical Texas-hot summer day, but the amount of fun that spread around the course overrode the heat. These flat-stick warriors rock!!!

Thanks to the ladies and the staff members of Delaware Springs for providing a well organized tournament. Looking forward to return next time... hopefully soon.

Congratulation to all the winners and the almost winners!!!

Personal note: I would like to give a shout out to the ladies who played with me on that day for their kindness and courtesy, especially my riding partner Linda Pryor. Linda and I could be the “Tina Fey and Amy Poehler” of golf. We amused each other from beginning to the end. There is an old saying in Korea; with each healthy laugh you turn back the hands of time. Linda and I must have turned back 10years worth of time on this day.

The next CTLG event is on September 3^rd at the Berry Creek Country Club in Georgetown.

CTLG Lago Vista July 2nd

On July 2^nd Central Texas Ladies Golf monthly tournament was held at Lago Vista Golf Club in Lago Vista, Texas.

I’ve dread of going to Lago Vista every year but I kept returning every year. “It’s too far,” “too hot,” “too hilly” and “too difficult of a course” are just a few of the too many unacceptable excuses. Once again, I tried to convince myself why I shouldn’t go to Lago Vista this year.

However, I must confess, this year I really enjoyed played at Lago Vista. Nothing changed, noticeably, as far as the course is concerned. The course, the grill and the small details seemed the same as last year and the year before, as far as I can remember. Everything looked the same.

But this year I had a much different day than I had expected. The only thing that changed, and by far the most important, was my attitude. I took the time to enjoy the beautiful view from each hole; some of them were breathtaking! My appreciation of the surrounding nature made all the difference. I enjoyed every little thing I encountered on that day. Spending a day with friends and having fun always puts an exclamation mark at the end.

You can’t change the world, but you can change how you view the world and everything can look different.

Thanks Lago Vista Ladies for welcoming me to your home course.

Yeah! I am looking forward to return next year.

CTLG@STONETREE June 2015

Let the game begin!!!

Fifty-two ladies participated in the CTLG June event at Stonetree Golf Course (Killeen, TX) hosted by Killeen Ladies Golf Association.

The recent wet weather had cleared up for the day of the event and it was a beautiful day for golf.

Most importantly, it was good to see many familiar faces as well as new friends who easily forgive you for not remembering their names or when or where the last time was you played in the same group.

Some come with predicable (expectation of winning) outcomes, some come for the socializing and some come for fun golf. Regardless of one's reason to come CTLG event, in the end we are all winners because we are as happy as kids on a playground when we are on the golf course with flat stick. And the nice lunch adds an exclamation mark!
